Mike Media Group

I worked on a wide variety of digital projects while at MMG. I gained valuable experience working with large clients like Sears and Time Warner Cable as well as smaller companies. Whether it was desiging within strict brand guidelines and implementing into a large CMS, or a small company website redesign, I learned to juggle multiple projects and deadlines.

  • These landing pages were a very frequent project at MMG. We were tasked with design, coding, and implementation into the client's CMS.

  • Each week I also coded Sears' affiliate newsletter, updating offers and sales, etc.
  • Another weekly project was maintaining and updating Sears Puerto Rico's website. I would receive creative, code it, and them implement it into their CMS each week.

  • Banners, banners and more banners. We would complete over 100 of these each week. In the never-ending struggle to fit more information on this small space, it was always a great exercise in typography.

Groupon

Initially brought on to complete the first Groupon company yearbook, I then stayed with the company to work on a variety of projects. I integrated with the national sales team, the PR team and the executive staff to produce sales material, infographics, PPT presentations and more.

Downtown Project

Commissioned by their "Director of Imagination", Dave Gould, I have had the opportunity to work on several branding and print projects for the Downtown Project. An organization led by Zappos CEO Tony Hseih, with the objective of transforming downtown Las Vegas.

  • A gathering place, a community center, a learning lounge. The Window is the focal point of the Downtown Project experience.
  • A partnership between the DTP and University of Iowa, Reimagining Downtown gave a group of U of I students the chance to travel to Las Vegas and implement their community development idea.

Midas

When Midas approached me about creating an identity for their Project Feed More campaign, I jumped at the chance. Not only was it a great chance to work with another iconic brand, it was a great cause! Working with local food banks across the country, Midas is helping to "put the brakes on hunger" by, among other things, donating a portion of all oil changes to the food banks.

  • The final iteration of the logo.
  • The whole package.
  • I also redesgined the business cards to incorporate the new campaign.
  • Gotta have t-shirts.
  • Finishing things out with another logo shot.

Midwest Quality Meats

As their name might imply, this website is used to highlight the quality meat products of Midwest Quality Meats. I was able to provide logo design, web design and coding, as well as product photography.

University of Iowa

Both while attending the University of Iowa and since, I have had the pleasure of working on a variety of projects that keep my print skills sharp.

  • Commissioned by the University of Iowa to create a poster promoting their lecture series event, I mimicked of the shapes, angles and curves in much of modern architectural design.

Personal Work

Sometimes it's a good palette cleanser to just sit down and design something for yourself, a friend, or a non-profit.

  • A project with my dear friend Dave Gould at the University of Iowa, Unfinished Business was a project to help older persons in the cummunity complete something they felt unfinished in their life.
  • A Public Fit is a theater group that aims to reinvigorate the tangible community by working with emerging Las Vegas artists to create exciting, innovative and provocative theater. Since they don't have a physical space, they create theater everywhere. With this in mind, I worked the map location icon into the logo, signifying the theater is wherever they are. The outline of the icon is offset while the geometric background is "fitting" into that outline. The asymmetrical geometric background represents the organic mix of elements involved in a production. The other element is the five lines that the pointer is falling into. These represent the elements of theatre that are used to communicate the story to the audience: gesture, speech, song, music and dance.

An aspiring Terry Richardson...minus the creepiness..and glasses..and flannel. Maybe that wasn't such a good comparison.

  • Over the past four years, I have used Parker for a variety of high-profile design projects. When describing Parker to others, I often refer to him simply as “one of Chicago’s top young talents.” Parker is creative, has strong artistic sensibilities, and invests himself deeply into every assignment. He also has a generous, collaborative spirit that makes working with him a true joy.

David Gould, Director of Imagination @ The Downtown Project

  • Parker is bright, enthusiatic and hard-working. He's a good communicator and a team player. He brought so much more to the table than his design skills. I would think any company could benefit from his positive outlook and expertise.

    Mark Desky, VP @ Groupon

  • I highly recommend Parker for any project. He is the definition of a team player, and is guaranteed to brighten up any office with his attitude. His design skills and work ethic would make a great asset to any organization.

    Chad Nason, PR @ Groupon
